the origin story of Stephen, the character I just can’t seem to quit

Stephen is a character who has been in my life since July 2012, but I still haven't found a satisfying narrative for him. This show from February 2018 talks about one of his most recent iterations.

While he started out as a mediocre white man suffering after the end of a breakup from a pristine type-A Hot Girl with honey highlights, he’s since become representative of my personal id. Recently, he’s become obsessed with the idea of purity and forgiveness and believes that becoming an orthorexic for Lent will finally make him feel better about himself.

I made a playlist featuring songs that either he would listen to—the indie folk pop type songs that he finds aspirational and more depressing songs that he relates to in earnest.
